Upside Down with Paul
Snippets and sketches from the life of Paul the Apostle pasted on to a framework of the Acts of the Apostles.
Jew, Pharisee, envoy of the High Priest, servant of Jesus of Nazareth, Roman citizen and prisoner of Rome. Saul of Tarsus – renamed Paul – was all of these things and much, much, more.
Expansive in vision, hardworking in business, tireless in travel, peerless in preaching, prolific in writing, endless in encouragement, patient in suffering. A life of change and growth.
This book closely traces the Bible's descriptions of the life of Paul through three exhausting missionary journeys, two years spent in prison because of false charges laid by vindictive enemies, a dangerous trip to Rome as a prisoner, and two more years spent there as a prisoner. We marvel at the stamina and determination of this man who could never do enough to repay Jesus for his grace and forgiveness.
The layout is extremely important because it contains four categories of information:
- an updated form of the novelette, "Paul in Snippets" which presents the amazing career of Paul as described by Luke in the Acts of the Apostles,
- 41 imaginative sketches of events taken from the life of Paul,
- an introduction to Paul, his background, brief biography, journeys and letters, and
- the text of the book of the Acts of the Apostles taken from the Berean Literal Bible with some additional notes and helps.
This book takes up the challenge of presenting such widely-varying information in a format that makes a reader feel at home. "Upside Down with Paul" is designed to make it easy for a reader to feel engrossed while mulling over the life of one of the most important men in the Bible.
See Bible Tales blog posts about Paul for more background information about the man.
